Patient education supports a conversation with the endoscopy nurse or physician.
Flexible sigmoidoscopy
The procedure examines the lining of the rectum and a portion of the colon with a flexible tube. Preparation may include one or two enemas, laxatives, or dietary modifications, depending on the circumstances. The procedure usually takes 5 to 15 minutes. Patients may feel pressure, bloating, or cramping.
ERCP
ERCP is a specialized technique used to study the ducts of the gallbladder, pancreas, and liver. Pregnancy should be disclosed before x-ray films or scans.
